Blah. I hate that "Vista 2.0" banner. It's like, saying that Leopard is comparable with Windows.
Also, you can bet that whatever MS release as "Vista 2.0" will be pretty shoddy compared to Leopard.
Mind you, Vista is looking like Tiger 0.6 or something, so maybe they're poking fun at MS for ripping off so much of their stuff.

Yes. I want rentals. I almost never want to see the same movie again, so I won't want to store it.
Rentals are what I would use. At a sufficiently low price, of course. $2 for close to DVD quality would be OK. (I'm less picky about rental quality than purchase quality.)
Seems a lot of people are agreeing with this. If they don't have a netflix style rental model then I can't see myself using the movie store at all. If they do have rentals, then I'll say bye-bye to netflix the same day.
Having read all the rumours, I'm not holding out much hope... :(

belkin has some, but the order pages just say "coming soon", I don't even think you can pre-order.
http://www.belkin.com/ipod/touch/
Scosche has some pretty cool ones, you can pre-order now, they ship "mid September"

I love my mini. I would have bought the former top end mini (1.66ghz Duo, 80gb HDD, SD) to replace my mini if it came down to $599 refurb/$699 new. I like my monitor just fine. I prefer the form factor of the mini over the iMac is what it comes down to, I suppose.
I'm not a fan of the iMac design... mostly because of my bad experience with a Rev A iMac G5 being so freaking loud. If Apple had kept the Core Solo and dropped it's price $100 or more (Apple needs a $399 mini more than it needs a $799 model) lots of people would have bought it.
As it stands, though, the mini kinda sucks.
The Intel iMacs are almost silent - truly, you can barely hear them if at all.

Recent files now show in the Dock menu of closed and open apps (not sure if this is new), clicking show recents shows them as tiles like as in DP1
279465
Spotlight has smaller icons and Google and Wikipedia (been mentioned), but now has dictionary meanings again and the pronunciation
279468
Directory Utility now has an editor which is like OS X Server's Workgroup Manager. presumably as Server will be included now.
279467
- can press ctrl+up again to close Mission Control, doesnt work with ctrl-down for Expos app windows though
- the Sites folder in home is gone (Apache and Web Sharing still there though)
overall things just seem a little quicker, animations are smoother and getting less Dock, SystemUIServer & Finder crashes. still a few crashes and UI bugs around the place.

The advert speaks volumes to me, I love it..... a select few won't, but it's just not possible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time.
It's alright. Apple knows exactly what they're doing when it comes to ads. I'm not sure what that negative critics' basis for comparison is. All those successful Xoom and Galaxy Tab ads that were responsible for record-breaking sales? LOL

Apple doesnt seem to mess around with naming too much. iPhone. iPod Touch. MacBook Pro.
MacBook Air? I agree with whoever said it sounds like a shoe. No way is it an actual Apple name.

For all those saying about SSD - don't forget that after approx. 2 years of regular use, the drive is pretty much useless. read/write speeds drop off considerably as they age. As unbelievable as it may seem, SSD still has a long way to go before it can replace the hard disk drive.
 SSD is far more reliable than a spinning platter on a highly portable handheld device. Read/write speed? This is for an MP3 player, not a gaming PC. And it's not like the performance of the hard-drive on the current classic is great either. There's always a lag here and there for the drive to spin up. Try browsing cover flow on the classic, it's painful.

We just had a monster record day, 430k points!
We now average 258k per day, slightly above our current rank.
very nice! we should move into #58 in less than a week hopefully

just a thought. I'd like to see at least one mini stay as cheap as possible. cheap minis are condusive to the "non desktop" or "inivisible" situations we all love them for.
creative things like
Home automation,
Home theater
automotive fun
art installations
internet radio.
cash registers
security systems
advertising kiosks(shoot me)
rhumba?
I always thought they should lay a tiny screen on them for applications like these where it's purpose doesn't need to infinitely pliable.

Does anyone know how much the Core Duo chips will be now that we have Core 2 Duo. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Intel were reducing the prices again. If thats th case, i'd be a bit disappointed to see the Mini stay the same price.

Well that MBA didn't last too long. How come you're bailing on it?
I didn't even open the MBA to be honest. Bailing because it was $1500 haha. And I just couldn't bring myself to have a second computer that is that price with those specs. And I have a feeling in my bones that the resale value will suck on the first gen 11.6".

Hmm..that'll feel odd...
Hold down for 2(ish) seconds
click 'X'
click 'ok'.
OR
Drag to trash...
Seems like change for the sake of change. Hardly a groundbreaking new feature.
No you forgot that when you drag to trash you have to open the trash application and empty the trash to completely remove the app. Don't forget that sometimes putting apps in the trash and removing it doesn't remove some files that the app contains that would still stay on the computer.
Hopefully this new iOS app deletion that they are bringing to the mac would COMPLETELY remove the app and files that goes along with it.

One day I'll buy a mini - they look so sweet. And with a C2D they'll go sweet too!
Maybe dual optical drives like the Mac pro. This is getting standard on Macs obviously.

This size represents the iMac that can display Full resolution 1080p HD content. If they introduce this and then eventually throw a Blu-ray in there they've got the killer combination. Front Row is already setup to be a home-theatre replacement. I mean come on, it's basically an HDTV...it's 1080p, it's got a remote, and it's got front row... This will sell like crack... Digital crack...
I agree. If this rumor is true, this will be my next computer. I'm shopping for an LCD TV and a computer. A 23-inch iMac would cover both for me nicely. Fingers crossed.
