I put some painted grills on it yesterday, and had pre- and post-cat O2 sensors installed along with the fuel filter today. It looks pretty good for a car with 103k miles on the odo (I'm the original owner).

Not expecting a huge update here other than Sandy Bridge, Thunderbolt, and 6XXX series AMD graphics.
Will the higher end models having the chance of 6XXX cards, will the lower end models, the $1199 and the $1499 have better graphics like 5XXX with 1GB GDDR5 or do you all think that they will stay the same? I say that the refresh will happen on either May 3 or May 10. If it does not happen on either of these days, it will happen at WWDC.

I think fixed pricing for movie purchases would encourage better movie production. There are crappy movies that quickly become $7 on DVD after they are released. And there are ones that stay around $17-19.
I have one sort of off topic question: has anyone ever bought a DVD at 7-11 or Eckerd for $24.99? Why would anyone do that? It makes me sad to think people might not know they are paying three times more than they have to. Maybe I'm just too jaded.

Having now had an iphone 4 for a month, I consider this the most overblown problem I've ever come across. Yes, I can lose bars if I don't have a case and hold it a certain way while in a bad coverage area. I can do that on my 3GS and bb curve, too. Yes, I lose more bars with the iphone 4 than those phones. But again, only with no case and holding it a certain way, in a low coverage area. So I move my finger a quarter inch.

Honestly, people are so worried about the principle of the matter (I shouldn't have to use a case! I shouldn't have to change how I hold it!) that they've completely missed whether it actually really makes for a worse experience. For me, it absolutely does not.

This will be interesting. The issue that I see concerns ancillary data. I really dislike how the iphone handles application data, but it is--at the very least--consistent. You delete the app, you delete the data.
I haven't had the occasion to see how MAS works with deleting, but I can't imagine it doing anything similar, and that creates a rift, in my opinion.

A Core 2 Duo mini would be nice, but I don't think we'll see one until January now with this small mini update.
And even as much sense as a C2D mini makes, I think it would have taken some thunder away from the iMac updates.

oh ok.
you know, if you use the console client, you can tell it how many cores to use - like smp 7 would only use 7, instead of 8. but i'm not sure if it would make the deadline with only 7. probably not with less than that though.
so with the 09's you can do other things while it's folding bigadv units and no problems?
After I read your suggestion it occurred to me that I have access to the console (through inCrease) and can change it there (also where I told it not to do large units, wouldn't get done in time on the 08) I am running a3 on the 09 though (not sure if those are bigadv)

As for the 08 MP, folding & doing other things. I'm folding now & have itunes open with three windows while listening to a playlist of ~ 1425 songs. Mail & Safari will sometimes beachball a bit when iTunes changes songs (iTunes CPU usage goes from ~8 to a bit over a 100) iPhoto seems to be OK (w/4k photos)
The 09s on the other hand can fold (using 8 cores) and use HB and be as usable as the 08 that's just folding (and make the preferred dates, If I remember right, I'll need to confirm that one) **CONFIRMED**

I am hoping that movies and TV shows get offered outside the US on the iTunes store. Steve mentioned that this would be happening in 2007 when he previewed the iTV box. I think many would like to see this sooner than later.

$1 cases on eBay is good enough to protect from scratches IMO.
Any case that covers it protects from scratches other than slides, I think. :confused:

I know this thread is probably full of pro video geeks so don't eat me alive here. What's the primary difference between FCP and Express aside from the fact that Final Cut Pro is packaged in a suite of applications?
Final Cut express strips out a lot of features people won't need unless they are doing some pretty heavy lifting. I use Final Cut Pro (and have since 1.0) but for the type of editing I do here at work (small TV station) Final Cut Express would work just fine. I just use what they give me 8-).

Along with the macbook and MB pro getting updates, for $14.95 you can download an ipod nano or ipod patch/software that lets you listen to FM radio without having to purchase the radio remote. Interface is the same as with the remote.

First off, Consumer Reports makes money by selling subscriptions which means free press is good for them. Sensational popular bad reviews gets them publicity - good reviews get them nothing.
Bullcrap. WTF looks through CR to read bad reports? I look in it to find the BEST performing and quality products, not the worst. I only care about the worst if it was something I was considering at which point I take a much closer look.
Second, the Suzuki Samarai is not a Chinese vehicle - Suzuki is a Japanese company.
I wasn't referring to a specific product, but the fact that most crap comes from China these days (vehicles are one of the few exceptions).
Third, save your political slant for some other forum - we talk tech here - not politics.

Actually it is rather high, the machines provide quite a bit of heat too which is good in the winter but not so good in the summer. I will probably have to cut way back once it gets warm enough that I have to turn the air on which would be much sooner with the machines running. I wish I could get a receipt for the power that I use for folding it would make a nice tax write off, probably several hundred $$$ a year just for folding. As for what do I do? I just pay it and smile :p
