I still think it would help us if you described, at a high-level, what it is you are trying to accomplish.
From what I can gather you want a countdown timer: a label that shows the seconds remaining, along with two buttons, one to start the countdown and one to cancel it. After the Start button is tapped, the label will start showing the seconds counting down. If the Cancel button is tapped, the countdown stops and is reset, so that if you tap Start again it begins back at 60 seconds. Is that correct?
If so, I think you need to be aware that a countdown-timer and NSTimer are very different things.

Having been into Jobs NYC apartment before it got sold to Bono, this is about the type of design I would expect. Clean, efficient, stark. Wonder if it will have black granite floors throughout, like his NYC abode did, with every outdoor surface being heated.

Interesting.... I got the feeling from the commercial that more is coming soon, but I didn't see it as "upgrades" which implies costly.
One of Apple's HUGE advantages over Android based devices is that all iOS devices can use the same OS and they all get upgraded at the same time. They need to tout this and I think that's basically what's coming when iOS 5 is released.

I suppose there could be a bit of news here for non-photographers.
As I understand it, Aperture uses OS X's built-in RAW image processing. If I remember rightly, the last Aperture update accompanied an OS X update. So it's possible 10.4.8 could be just around the corner (i.e. sometime this week?)

I believe the scope of a wireless iPod, or any other mass distributed wireless product, will go further than music and playlists. It�s already implemented in museums, etc. as downloadable tour guides; when you enter a town you can get your hands on local maps, local news, history; we might soon see ad boards that will allow you to download more info on products and services � there are endless possibilities.
Your idea sounds a lot like Bill Gate's smart fridge telling the us that our milk is going bad and that we should buy a new carton the next time we are at the supermarket.:D :D

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree... The objective games in MW2 are great IMHO. Black Ops looks and feels ***** in comparison.
I guess so. I feel the same exact way about MW2. To me that game was ugly and poorly paced where as CoD Black Ops has improved the level design immensely and made the game play much more interesting and varied.

We're incorporating near-real time photos in this year's MacRumors coverage... so it shuold be pretty enjoyable.... barring any unforseen circumstances. :)

Well, there are some benefits to being in California where the event is happening.
Still, when the keynote stream first goes online it can be very difficult to watch, probably even if you live in SF. I usually don't end up getting to see the whole thing until later in the afternoon.
Is it possible to download the entire keynote file (.avi) to my hard disk instead of viewing it streamed? Is it possible at all with Safari, or do I need Firefox and some extension/plugin?
No (and it's not an AVI, it's a H.264 encoded MOV). You're going to have to wait for someone to capture the stream and post it somewhere as a downloadable file.

Nope... we're thinking this will be a totally different iPod product, separate from the normal iPod or the nano or the shuffle.
On the wireless topic, isn't there a faster or larger range or higher bandwidth Bluetooth now?
If they would only make it about 3/16" thicker, the hard drive could have double the platters.

This may be off-topic, but does anyone know if the recently purchased Mac products are "grandfathered in" for a Lion release? In other words, I just bought a new MacBook Pro yesterday... am I going to need to pay to upgrade to Lion?
It would, of course, be nice if the upgrade was free for recent purchasers similar to what MS did with the release of Win 7, but I'm assuming that since I can't find anything out about it, there's probably nothing to be hopeful about.

Heh, I've seen that video it's classic. However, if you were to say fair-is-fair, MS publicly announced their road map for what became Vista before XP even came out. Apple KNEW what MS was working on. No body knew what Apple was working on.
The problem was that all that MS publicly announced for "Longhorn" never really made it into "vista" So while everyone knew what MS was working on, MS was unable to deliver.

But It looks like Apple considers everything outside the USA as "rest of the world".
Here in Germany there is still no Apple store and there are nearly no ads and if there are ads they are for iPod and not for mac. The only time I have seen a Mac ad on TV was when Apple switched to Intel.
You can get PCs and PC stuff everywhere, but it is hard to find a Mac (or Mac software) anyehere, even in bigger cities. No Macs in educational sector.
Today most PCs sold to indiviuals in Germany are sold in super markets and they usualy cost about 1000 Eur (~$1200 without monitor) for desktop systems or about 1300 Eur for notebooks. Apples consumer products (Mac Mini, iMac, MacBook) are not more expensive than that, but Apple fails to make anything of this potential. Macs are still an insider product here.
Everyone here talks about VISTA - a lot don't know OSX even exists.
