It was a massive Rs.8000 crore fraud. This is bad for India, Inc. But I don;t think this will affect outsourcing. The other firms like TCS, Infosys, Wipro will merely pick up Satyam's clients.

Ok my last attempt to convey my thoughts:
If your H1B is approved and you are granted an extension it only means that your application was approvalble at the time of filling. Now in order to maintain H1B status you should have:
1. Job with that employer who sponsored H1B
2. Income as dictated in LCA
3. Other condition such as NO DUI etc
Now what if one of the condition in the list above is:
4. Your I-140 on which the extension is granted should NOT be revoked.
I know this is not spelled out clearly, becasue in the past no one took this avenue. Now with premium processing everyone wants to do a quick PERM + 140 to get 3 more years on H1B. It is important that USCIS should clarify their stand on it, one way or the other. In fact if any of the service center sets a precedence by simply implying that one's H1B is invald after I-140 is revoked the interpretation will be cleared. Unfortunately it hasn't happend yet or I we are not aware of it. I hope they clarify it sooner than later.

i have been hearing that my case has been with an officer since last month (yes i said last month .. july).
I have no idea :
who these officers are,
why they are sitting on a case for weeks together without doing anything,
whether they have the copy of the latest bulletin,
whether they are still employed by NSC,
whether they are still alive.
noooo idea..... whatsoever.

I knew that slowly the antis are gaining more and more strength as a result the noose is getting tighter and tighter around us (and will eventually reach our neck). I didn�t expect this fast:
Texas change in driver�s license laws in last 6 months:
1) We knew that instead of the usual 6 years expiry date, they now want to see proof of visa documents and the expiry date is set to the expiry of the visa document.
2) If visa document is expiring less than 6 months, then we CANNOT get a drivers license.
Driver�s license laws - Latest Changes:
1) The driver�s license that all non-citizens will get will be Vertical and NOT the usual horizontal. This license looks very different than the conventional Texas DL and it also has to ominous word �temporary visitor�. I was okay with word being mentioned, but making the drivers license look so different from normal (vertical and not horizontal is taking it too far). I am worried about possible discrimination everywhere wherein we show our IDs.
2) Chance of Address not possible online: Previously, its only during license renewal, you had to get that new unique non-citizen card. Now, they are not allowing even change of address online! The website says, we don�t qualify for change of address online as well. This means that even for change of address, we have to go to the DL office and surrender of our old good unexpired DLs.
Any inputs? Texans? Others? What have been your experiences? In other states, can you change your address online without any hassle?

My wife and I have an appointmnet on the 20th of Feb at Chennai. I am taking the same set of documents I took couple of years ago (of course the updated ones). Olny thing is this time my I-140 is approved and I have disclosed that info in my application. I am hoping that nothing will go wrong. PM me if you want feedback after my interview.
I had my I140 approved too and had mentioned it in my application. They dont bother you. They however gave me 221g to verify student status and delayed my visa for two weeks. Interview was less than 2 mins and the vo said she had to verify student status thats it.

To get a 3 year extension:
* I-140 needs to be approved, AND
* your PD in the current months VB needs to be retrogressed.
If I-140 is still pending, either it needs to be pending >365 days, or your LC itself should have been filed >365 days ago.

You dont have to do anything. Just sit and watch the fun with USCIS. They will come up with solutions and get it passed with congress and they know better than any one else that they are in trouble without solutions. Lots of LAWSUITS will follow in next few months if they dont do their job on time.
If I interpret correctly you are saying because USCIS will not like to work on so many EADs and APs year after year AND SO they themselves will seek increase in annual GC numbers to clear up the mess. I wish your predictions would turn out to be true.:)
However, if enough EB GC numbers are not available, USCIS can not be repsonsibe for this. They have corrected the one mistake they did with the visa bulletin fiasco. I don't see any other basis for additional lawsuits.

I am sure we'll all hear from IV core team when it's time to start our phone and fax campaign in support of this or any other beneficial EB provisions to be included in the supplemental bill, if it ever happens of course.

I would strongly urge everyone to file for canadian PR without any agency/lawyer. Just visit cic.gc.ca
Fill in the form and send them asap. They will keep coming back if they need more docs. Don't rush for FBI report [fingerprints] as they are valid only for 6 months. They will ask for it after everything else is in order.
Your total expense per person starting from start to finish ....about $ 2000
It includes initial fees, medical exams, landing fees etc.
Your total time could range from 1.5 years to 2.5 years depending on the case.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, it's just been a day since I got this news so I am still processing it, talking to friends and colleagues.
I am going to look around for people who are going to file.
Thanks for the advice about taking a lead on things, and also pushing my manager to file it.
And it is true that they are planning more layoffs over the next few months, so I am in the soup if things stay this way. All good ideas, which I am willing to experiment with.
I am also looking at this as a golden opportunity to do something that I wouldn't have done if my GC process was going on - like move somewhere else to a smaller firm or change my job title a bit.
Or travel to Canada or Australia and work/live there for a bit, explore the world, and come back later.

Friends I think a great injustice is being done to NSC filers , their applications are taking months for ead and ap, while TSC filers are getting ead adn AP as soon as they get receipt, do you think this will improve for NSC in future, at this time looks like august NSC filers will haveto wait till the end of the year for EAD,ap, which is sad.

Just think how it feels to be waiting for receipt notices, knowing people who filed in late June are still getting them (and only a couple of July 2nd filers so far)and also knowing that if something is wrong with ur application, its going to take years before you can apply again....and compare it to the additional 2 months u r going to wait for ur EAD/AP

We all know why! America decided it's smarter than anybody else: "Hey, let's let new people into the country and then exploit them for as long as possible! Well, we gotta give them some hope that that some day they would have the same rights as everybody else, but who said we need to keep the promise? There are so many ways not to: overcomplicated "process", quotas on Green Cards, processing delays, no fixed, mandatory processing times, etc." Once you realize the main goal of the immigration policy - to create permanent underclasses whom America can discriminate and exploit, everything that happened in the immigration history of USA, especially recently, becomes very logical. Unfortunately, it's a long time tradition in US to exploit and discriminate "recent" immigrants. Remember "No Irish need to apply"? How about the Chinese workers who built the transcontinental railroad and then were lynched and Chinese were effectively banned from immigrating to US for the next 70 years (see shusterman.com for more historic examples).

Dude the person apparently not in good mental state. People do crazy things with they are in such situation. Who knows what went wrong. May be he felt that his family would suffer without him and incorrectly thought to take them with him. He seems to be caring father until this tragic event. Please stop pointing finger and pray that god be with the families who lost them.
I totally agree with u we dont know what situation that guy must be to take this decision..Here people gets panicked when they dont get their EAD card and Advance parole in time. So guys just pls pray that his soul gets peace...
