All the while the real Big Brother, Google, gets surprisingly little scrutiny from the American press.
Well a huge part of that reason is Google responded fairly quickly when ask and kept a smaller file.
On the other hand Apple stayed complete silent hoping it would blow over, kept a larger file and refused to respond until it got pretty out of hand. Now they got caught and press kept on them.
Google kept the press off by responding early on with their reasons and that made them happy. Apple was silent.

This instantly made me think of Laputa: Castle in the sky as well as the Laputa in gulliver's travels.
I think apple should go for this over iCloud. It's a brilliant idea to brand a cloud related service as a castle. It just fits. They can even claim that it's "magic as a castle in the sky"
It's corny.

Err, nope. No country is on 1st August yet.
Japan is the earliest to be on 1st Aug, but at this time of my writing, it's still 8:24 pm (31 July) in Japan.
Obviously OP wants the attention of being the thread starter.
Er... New Zealand (and Australia, et al) will be in August before Japan.
Still 35mins to go.

Those Safari updates? I would expect no less!!
If Safari didn't at least keep up with FireFox, then shame Apple. At best Safari should innovate just as much as Apple claims. How about CoverFlow for cached pages?

At this point, I couldn't really care less about Blu Ray or HD-DVD. I'd be more excited if Apple included Lightscribe or equivalent capability in their drives. Unlabeled discs are piled high on my desk.
Just replace your burner with a LightScribe unit and use the HP burning s/w.
....unless you have a laptop and dont wish to lug around an external burner?

I chose not to comment about the situation but to say....what a sad, screwed up world we live in. Take what you may out of that.
sad that old people dont want their children having sex when they are both old enough, or sad that those two are haveing sex?

at first glance it seems stupid to come out with a white iPhone 4 this late in the game. But I assume when the iPhone 5 comes out, the iPhone 4 will still be sold at a discounted rate like the iPhone 3GS on AT&T. So coming out with a new color for a phone that will be selling for the next year or two is not too late.

Those for the death penalty. How do you feel about Manning (I think that's his name. The guy that released the classified documents), if found guilty he can get the death penalty for it. The sentience for treason is the death penalty.
Now, I don't think the military will go that for, he most likely get life in prison. But it is a possibility.

this is raw storage
by the time you account for RAID, business continuity volumes and DR site storage the ratio is something like 5 times raw to usable storage
Well we don't know what they got, do we? It could be that their 12TB is already allocatable space. They could also already have near-online and offline storage in an existing SAN.
For larger storage arrays you don't use regular raid-5 or raid-10 either. Raid tech is a bit more complicated if you have 20.000 disks or whatever they have..

I wonder if the price range would stay the same with the new iPhone whenever it comes out.

I have a D-LInk Dl-524 wireless router up for grabs. It's 802.11g/2.4Ghz compatible. Woo!
I want $13.16 for this, shipped. Delicious.
This is the rare candy-coated version - so it's the most delicious router you can own.*

I think any old battery off eBay would be reliable. Typically they run only a few bucks with the tools included too. For that price you can't go wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised if AT&T offers early upgrades for existing black iPhone owners as a way of holding on to subs.
^ not saying this would be smart for either party btw.

I want a device the size of an ipod that I can check my mail on, chat, and do some web-surfing for info, all without the ridiculous GUI deformities of windows mobile and treo, etc. and simple, easy to use hardware to back it up. I want to take it out of my pocket, see what I want, then put it away. Seamless integration with my macs as well.
Maybe I'm in a nitch, but I don't see how this could lose. Make it simple, powerful, and seamless and people will ditch the baffling ordeal of their ipaq-esque phones in a heatbeat.
