Was just wondering what everyone used to protect their macbooks, I'm not sure if I should get a sleeve or a hard case for my 13" mbp.
Also if you could recommend me your personal favorites :)
thanks

Does it show up in HID Explorer ( http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#samplecode/HID_Explorer)? Handy app if you're working with HID devices/API.

....And since I'm not moving in for months, should I wait until what, a week before moving in to pay them the security and rent?
You're four months away from wanting to actually move in??? I think you're looking to early.
I can't imagine any landlord holding an apartment that long without your paying for all the time you wont be living there

Hello.
I am thinking of buying a used Nikon D90 soon for 400. However that's just body only. I have the memory card ready and I just need to purchase the lens, and the bags for it separately just to get me going for now.
Right, I suppose a few questions I want to ask you guys is
a) What lens shall I be looking at? Or shall I buy the D90 new with 18-105mm for 670 which maybe cheaper? =/
b) Will this be okay for long term investment ? The current camera I'm using now is Pentax S7 which I had for about 5 years now roughly and I doubt I'll buy a new SLR body in the future and just invest in the lens to be honest, Unless you guys can recommend me a camera?
I tend to do lanscape or macro photography mainly rather than anything else. I don't mind about loud shutter noise or video function. I think I've only taken 3 videos since getting that camera. My budget is was 500 but my parents says that if it costs extra for the camera I want and that I won't get bored of it after a while then they'll put some money towards it. I think I'm looking towards 700 max really.
Thanks in advance.

I've got a current model Mac Mini that I'd like to connect to a non-HD television via Component cable. I have an DVI-Mini Display Port adapter which was purchased from a third party as well as a DVI-Component adapter that came with it. Here are some photos:

Aside from a Component cable to connect to the TV, anything else I might need for this to work successfully?
Thanks!

Publicity really boosts these auctions. They're easy to miss if you're not paying attention the week the auction is on.
If you hadn't mentioned it maybe nobody would have noticed and you could have got it for the $100 reserve as the only bidder!
I don't trust how stable this Newton will be. I was searching for NEwtons on eBay when I found it. Just thought that I would help the guy out/ get more info by making a thread about it.

again, i'm interested in the PC but would have to wait for some christmas cash. as stated in your previous thread i could trade, a powerbook g3, ipod 3G 15GB, or an imac G3 600
let me know if interested...i also have a few obscure un-tech related things for sale if interested....
but as stated in my previous thread, if it was a 400mhz p-book, I would. But it isn't. :(

To be honest, I don't think the hackers are trying to unlock the newer basebands. Sherif said in December that there would be an unlock for 3.10 Baseband in Mid January, but obviously that hasn't happened. I am very doubtful they will unlock anything after 1.59.00 before the next iPhone is released (iPhone 5).

Does the osx version of itunes support non-ipod mp3 players? (namely the creative nomad jukebox zen xtra) I had an ipod (3rd gen) but was unsatisfied with the sound quality.
no. but if you want better 'sound quality' then use a higher quality compresion (192 kbps instead of 128 kbps it makes a difference and sounds MUCH better than the 96 kbps that some mp3 players compress at). with 40 GB or the new 60 GB photo iPod availble you should have plenty of room for a better compresion.
as for the computer. it sounds like the iMac would be better for you. especially if you want to buy a lot of recording stuff. having a stack of recording hardware is pretty hard to lug around with your iBook thus rendering the portability useless. the iMac will also last longer for you because it does have the G5 which will be great once Tiger comes out.

Look for the easy button under the type menu. Seriously, selecting the correct type to go with a mark, or use as a particular style is specific to what you are trying to say. Your question implies that you don't know what you are doing. Why don't you prove me wrong and post some examples of your work that includes type you think works... and type that doesn't.

Had it since the day it came out via dodgy methods.
Like people have said, no reason to limit it to NA up to now ...
Dodgy methods? Couldnt you have just signed up for a US iTunes account and downloaded it, then switched back to your normal one? That's how most non-US people got it easly.

So you would recomend the v600 over the v400 as far as battery life and quality?
It all depends. I liked the V600 better than the V400 for these reasons.
It was made out of Metal/Aluminium instead of plastic.
I seemed to be able to hear better on it. Although i think it was do mainly to ergonomics.
I liked the look and feel of it much better. To me the V400 was the beta, and the V600 was the final product.
I value style, and durability, so I went with the V600. Also, I had a V60 which I loved. Possibly the best phone I have ever owned, and the V600 remind me much of it. I'm sure was a big part of my decision.
And as for battery life, if I remember correctly it was about the same. No huge difference.
So I guess if your an average user, The V400 is a good fit.
BTW, I dont think Cingular sells the V600 anymore. I think they replaced it with a 500 series phone. Which is made out of plastic :(

Yes, I know that now, but that is one of the few things I wasn't able to figure out myself on OS X.

Good morning everyone,
Looks like it is going to be a wet day for queuing.
I'm heading into Tokyo in a few hours, I'll try and keep you posted as to the line at Ginza.

Good ploy on their part to get a cheap emac.
Good luck with HP. Not a bad company's computer to have if you have to have a non-apple, but it still runs windows.

bought probably 7 cases plus the free bumpers.
I simply purchased a squaretrade warranty and now running naked, loving it.
If you call apple they will still give you one, as of 2 weeks ago

I have not "switched"... I still use both a PC and a Mac now.
The adjustment is simple, and it is easy to maintain files, etc. The main difference, in my opinion, is that Mac OS has a much "thinner" feel to it.
It is a snappier OS, sleeps better and wakes up faster, and is pretty easy to manage.
It is also a bit easier to install and uninstall, though it takes some getting used to.
The two major issues, hands down (despite what Apple fanboys will tell you), is that you will run into apps and hardware that will only work on a PC, and also that the hardware is under powered (both in terms of availability and cost) compared to what you can get on a PC.
Threads like this all over the web, so read up.
FWIW, I really love this little 13" MBP. It is highly portable and for what I do, it is a perfect compliment to my awesome desktop and work laptop PCs.

Oh yes...it's real. The prototypes of the OMP are getting rare nowadays. It will be interesting to see what it goes for, once the Newton aficionados hear about it. :p I myself have a MessagePad 2000 that I use constantly.
I want a Newton, but I'm not sure what I would do with it. How much do normal ones go for?

definitely something wrong, and any of the things you listed could be the culprit. time to start swapping out components...
