All you need is the job title and the duties for AC21. At the time when we filed your labor application, we did not use SOC code. The code was assigned by State Wage Unit when they determined the prevailing wage. They did not care what the job title was. Rather, they determined it based on the acceptable field of study to maximize the salary required. Consequently, it often did not match with the job title on the application.
Like I mentioned above, the occ code as assigned by SESA may not match the job description on the application. It is the risk you will take if you followed the occ code to find your job title and/or skills.

The issue is taking an appointment in a different city in India, carrying all the documents to India and hope there is no random delays in the visa stamping.

Sorry about your employment situation.
If you think it is serious enough, I strongly recommend getting an Attorney's advice on how to transfer your H1B smoothly and also to clairfy any questions that you might have.
Paying few hundred dollars for attorney's consultation is worth the peace of mind that you get, once your questions are answered.
Murthy.com, shusterman.com etc are some of the good ones that I know of.
Good luck and donot worry too much (as these kind of things never stops occuring in life).

3/ How likely is it that PACE will become law?
Extremely likely. It is a bill with bipartisan support (almost equal number of Republican and Democrat co-sponsors). Plus, there is tremendous political will in Washington DC right now, cutting across party lines, to enact a legislation that will maintain America�s competitiveness in science and technology. The traditional anti-immigrant lobby that usually shoots down such legislation is also not too bothered by the automatic adjustment of status (AOS) privileges (i.e. a GC) being provided to PhDs, as the total number of PhDs is too miniscule a number, and seen to add tremendous value to the system for even them and their prejudices to oppose it. The total number that will be given these benefits under PACE will be a few hundreds, and this at a time when there are bills in senate and congress to legalize the 11 million (i.e. 11,000, 000) illegal workers living presently within US borders. The only thing we have to do is to get these minor amendments incorporated into PACE; otherwise the bill will be passed and we will be left high and dry, and there won�t be as good a chance for us in the near future to get that elusive green card.

France is not that bad if you can learn French (that could mean hate English..just kidding).

As other members have advised, until 180 days+, maintain good relationship with your current employer as if you are going to be with them for ever (don't even give an inkling that you might be planning to leave). After 180 days you may leave, but you will have to find a new employer who is willing to hire you on permanent basis upon getting you GC for same/similar job as in the LC. What you do until your GC is approved (contract job with this employer or something else) is a different matter. Those employments can be on EAD, H1, temp/permanent, etc.

I have EAD for couple of years & when I moved to Ohio, I was issued 4 years DL. They did look at I-94 (I travelled on AP having one year validaty on I-94), also they DID NOT looked at my EAD expiry date..They asked very simple question - Do you have your SSN? Thats it..!

My DL was renewed for four years, much beyond my I-94 expiry, both the times...so guys, come on to CA...Golden land of jobs, good weather, cosmopolitan and accomdating/tolerant ppl of all races/religions :-). I am still on H1-B though..

ok so when would EB2 come back to its old status of Jan 2003(it was so for past 1.5 yrs atleast b4 jumping to june 2004 and again retogating)...would it be in this current fiscal yr..i.e b4 sept 2008 or it will take whole of nxt fiscal yr to come to that kind of dates?

Who r u to ask him to get lost??? Just becoz u have so many greens dozn't mean that u can rule the roost. Therez something called as freedom of speech and hez just using it. Its a free forum and u cant dictate terms here while u r a member here urself. Accept the truth and live with it. Yes, the motive of the original poster could be questioned due to the nature of his first post. But do we really have a set rules for the first post. I have seen some new members getting reds coz they ask for help in their first post and get bombarded for not contributing or helping others.
This post does not and cannot imply that any significant percentage of indians are into visa scams to make money. Whatever the original posters intention, this is a relevant post since it is immigration related. Most indians and similarly most EB GC applicants are legal, law abiding folks. Lets not get offended or take this personally. We have to mature and show that just coz some section of 'our' people do a misdeed does not reflect that all of those people are of the same color or morals.

Hi everyone, I have been approved on 9/6/7.
only 92 days after AOS filing.
My sponsor, I did work with them from 2002-2007. They agree to file i-485 in the hopes economy would get better. However house builders are doing very bad now and they cannot take me back after approval.
The question is, does this spoiled my chances for citizenship?
I think you can get a letter from employer stating that they can not employ you any more. I am not sure if they issue a letter to every person that loses the job. Just make sure that your intention to work with the sponsering employer is documented somehow .
I have an idea here ... just write an email to your boss or HR stating "how good company has been to you and how they helped you with your immigration process and given a choice you would rather work with the same company"
Take a printout of all these emails and save them if you still have a chance. You can use all these to prove if you run into any problems during the naturalization process.
Apart from these things collect the news paper clips or company wide emails that talk about downsizing. These things should help you to prove your intentions if there is a query about your intentions at the time of naturalization.
If you think company will survive for 5 or 10 more years , just keep in touch with your HR

when I reached DC on Monday. Countless "Airborne" tabs in water during the day kept me going for the lawmaker meetings(I did 95% of the talking), the reception on Monday evening and the rally.
I cannot explain the experience felt at the rally. There were infants, small children and many many strollers. I took pictures of all of them (will upload during the day).
I was thrilled to meet "macaca". "guyfromsg" was awesome with his spirit all throughout. Chandu sported dark glasses and looked awesome and he was still charged to get more people to the rally.
It is very unfortunate that many of you just squandered such a great opportunity to be part of history. The 1500 numbers floating around is not true. There were more people than that. We will know soon from IV core.
Greg Siskind sported his IV TShirt and he was proud to be taking part in the rally. He spent a lot of time with IV.
"NeedHelp" came with her 3-4 year old daughter who is quite sweet and sat at the first row at the gathering on the lawns of the US Capitol.

Due to the economic downturn there aren't many companies sponsoring GCs for employees. I doubt it would be more than 20 to 30k per year from now. This leaves 100-110k visas available every year for retrogressed countries like india and china
if there 300-400k pending GC applications in all categories then shouldn't all of us get our GC in next 3-4 years?
